Why Bolu: summer training without the heat

Bolu sits in the forested mountains between Istanbul and Ankara. When the coast is too hot for quality work, teams here train through the day and recover in clean mountain air.
  • 01

    Cool summers

Comfortable temperatures from May to October, so sessions are not squeezed into early mornings.
  • 02

    Forest trails

Soft-ground paths around Lake Abant for long runs, tempo work and easy recovery days.
  • 03

    Full focus, easy access

No resort crowds, one quiet base for the whole team. On the Istanbul–Ankara motorway, about 2-3h by road from both airports.

Para athletics: built around para athletes, not adapted afterwards

Para athletics is where Orso specialises. We have hosted national para athletics teams from the Czech Republic, Kyrgyzstan and Denmark, and welcomed the UAE and Algeria teams here in Bolu. Every camp is planned around classification needs, seated throwing and daily access.
✓ Space and anchoring for seated throwing frames, inside and outside the cages
✓ Step-free routes from bus to track
✓ Accessible rooms at the hotel
✓ Wheelchair-accessible transfers
✓ One coordinator with the team every day

FAQ

Questions coaches ask

Q:
Is Bolu an altitude camp?
A:
No. At 700–800 m it is a mid-altitude summer base chosen for climate and focus. For altitude blocks we offer Erzurum (~1,900 m).
Q:
Is it suitable for wheelchair users?
A:
Yes, our hotel and sports facilities are accessible for wheelchair users. We check every route before the team arrives.
Q:
How do we get to Bolu?
A:
Fly into Istanbul (IST or SAW) or Ankara. We meet the team at arrivals and drive to the hotel: about 3 hours from Istanbul, 2 hours from Ankara.
Q:
Can we combine Bolu with another venue?
A:
Yes. Teams often pair a Bolu block with Erzurum for altitude or Antalya for competition preparation.
